Email Security Essentials
Email Security Essentials provides complete, cloud-based protection against advanced, targeted attacks, helps ensure email continuity, and scans outgoing email to prevent data loss—without the need to install additional software or hardware.
Comprehensive email threat protection
Our multi-layered, cloud-hosted scanning engines include Advanced Threat Protection (ATP), a vital security layer. ATP scans email attachments in most commonly used file formats and compares them against a cryptographic hash database.
Advanced Threat Protection combines behavioral, heuristic, and sandboxing technologies:
- Email attachments are scanned in real time
- Suspicious URLs are redirected, protecting email recipients against inadvertent malware downloads
- Suspicious attachments are detonated in a sandbox environment to observe behavior
- Observation results are pushed into the Real Time System, extending protection to all customers
Emails that contain malicious content are quarantined, and administrators and users can be notified. If no malicious content is found, regular mail processing rules apply.
Data Leak Prevention & compliance
Our Email Security Essentials provides Data Leak Protection (DLP) to satisfy email compliance filtering for corporate policies and government regulations such as HIPAA and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX). All outbound messages are scanned, ensuring each departing email is legitimate, virus free, and does not leak private or sensitive information.
Business email continuity
Email Continuity ensures that that email can still be delivered during email outages or loss of connectivity. In the event that primary email services are unavailable, email operations fail over to a cloud-based email services to prevent downtime.
